Mood Board - Colours

I have chosen to include three main colours on my magazine cover as I feel any more than that will make it too over crowded. Each colour in each block represents a different part of the cover. The colour on the left represents the background colour, i.e. the colour behind the mast head and any other bubbles that may be on the cover; the colour in the middle represents the colour of the masthead and the colour most prominent within the magazine; and the colour on the right represents the colour of the cover lines.

All of the colour combinations have black and/or white. This is because they compliment each other well and if only other colours are used then the magazine will not be taken seriously as a professional magazine: it will be very hard to read and it will be a huge eye saw with all of the bright colours.

Overall, there are a lot of bright colours. This is because, when we did the questionnaire to find out what the students wanted for a college magazine, the majority of them said they wanted the cover to feature lots of bright colours. I thought that because the students here fall into my target age, it would be a good idea to use some of the information we acquired.

Some of these combos are based on actual magazine covers. Basing the colours on popular magazines may be a good idea because that would make my magazine appear more professional and if the magazine that I base the colours off is aimed at the same age group as mine, then mine will appeal to the audience that I want it to.
