Magazine Contents Analysis 2

This is the contents page for Kerrang!, and like the NME contents page, it features the same basic colours as the cover: Black, White and Gold. And again, it has the same layout with each issue.
In total there are 11 images on this contents page. This is because this magazine’s target audience is younger, so the images are easier on the eyes than lots of text.

This contents page’s overall layout is very similar to NME’s in that the heading is in the top right corner, the page references are in a column on the right, and the images are in the middle. There is also another advertisement at the bottom of the page for a subscription to the magazine which is also present in every issue.

What is different in this contents page is the Editor’s note at the top of the page, this is something that not every magazine opts for, but is good for when the editor has a strong opinion on the content of the magazine, or if they want to directly speak to the reader. They are usually there so that the reader can get into the editor’s head so that they want to read more.

There is a pull quote at the top of this page which is normally something found in Newspapers rather than the contents page in a magazine. This is another feature which is quite rare in magazines, but it is a good idea, as the readers will want to read more of the magazine.

This magazine’s column with all of the page numbers is split up into more groups than most magazines; this is probably for easier navigation as it specifies what the reader is looking for in greater detail.
