70% of the volunteers do not wish to pay for the magazine,
so if we do decide to put a cover price on, it would have to be very low, but
it may get more of a response if it is free.
The most popular results for encouraging the students to buy
the magazine were music, information on the college and ‘free stuff’, so these
are all things that can be included on the cover lines of the magazine.
80% of the people regularly read their college emails. This
means that not only can we include the same sort of information as the emails,
but we can also advertise things like the release dates of the magazine via
email.
It seems the students want the magazine to be monthly, this
shouldn’t be a problem in terms of acquiring information and printing each
issue, unlike every fortnight which may prove to be not only very costly, but
also a huge rush for the reporters.
25% of the students said they would contribute to the
magazine. This may not seem like a huge figure at first, but out of the 1600
students here, that is around 400 students who would be willing to contribute.
The sorts of things that the contents page should include
are information on music and sports, upcoming events and trips, and gossip.
None of the questionnaires specify what sort of gossip, whether it be on students
and staff, or celebrities.
Bright colours seem to be the most popular feature for the
front cover, as well as pictures of and taken by students. This should be quite
easy as so many people are offering to contribute to the magazine.
Finally, 100% of the students who answered the questionnaire
are oblivious to the fact that a college magazine exists and they do not buy
it. This proves that whatever product is on offer now, isn’t reaching its
target audience, and they are not doing it right. However, we plan to change
this.
