College Magazine Cover Analysis

This college magazine cover features a masthead which is well defined from the other text as it is in a different font and it’s in bold. There is also a main cover line, also distinguishable from the other cover lines from its different size and colours. There aren’t many other cover lines, but because there isn’t a wide target audience, there doesn’t need to be.

There are three main colours and three main fonts on this cover. The colours are black, white and gold which contrast each other well and are colours that are commonly found on many magazine covers.

The image on this cover fits well with the purpose of the magazine, as it is obviously a student, because of the headphones and the books. The image gives the magazine an all-round relaxed and inviting feel.

To the left side is a strip that I can only presume is the spine of the magazine. It has the date ‘2009’ on it and it would seem that with each new year comes a new colour to replace the gold on the cover.
